DETROIT — Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron welcomed priests, religious and laity representing various missionaries orders, societies and apostolates to the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Oct. 20 to celebrate World Mission Sunday.

The annual Mass in late October celebrates the worldwide Church's commitment to spreading the Gospel in missionary territories and underdeveloped countries, as well as the re-presentation of the Gospel in places that have drifted from the faith.

The archbishop was joined during the Mass by members of the PIME Missionaries, as well as Fr. Paul Ballien, director of the Archdiocese of Detroit's chapter of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

After Mass, the Knights of Columbus hosted a grilled hotdog lunch on the front porch of the cathedral for Massgoers to enjoy fellowship and dialogue with members of the various missionary groups in attendance.
