This year's Triduum celebration at St. Bonaventure Monastery and the Solanus Casey Center was made a bit more special by a Tenebrae service on Good Friday featuring the St. Matthew Schola. The Tenebrae service, a beautifully sung solemn vespers, is a special prayer service that commemorates the suffering and death of Christ through powerful visuals and sound, including the extinguishing of candles one by one to symbolize the abandonment of Jesus.

Teenagers from across the Archdiocese of Detroit gathered Feb. 1 at Mercy High School in Farmington Hills for the 2026 RISE Detroit conference. The theme of this year's conference was "Unafraid." The conference featured Mass with Bishop John M. Quinn, keynote addresses from Chick Anyanwu, Eucharistic adoration, confession and time for games and fellowship with Catholic peers from the area.

One-hundred and eighty-six people from parishes all over the Archdiocese of Detroit were consecrated to Our Lady of Guadalupe on Dec. 9 at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit. Auxiliary Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton celebrated the feast day Mass of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of the Americas, during a special celebration with Spanish-speaking Catholics at Detroit's mother church.

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, OFM, was the featured guest Dec. 5 during a fundraising dinner hosted by the Archdiocese of Detroit in support of Christians in the Holy Land at St. John's Resort in Plymouth. Catholics in the Archdiocese of Detroit and the Chaldean Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle raised more than $500,000 to support the work and ministry of the Church led by Cardinal Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, over two days, Detroit Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger announced.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton celebrated the sacrament of confirmation of 92 adults at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit. The celebration of confirmations — one of the three sacraments of initiation, along with baptism and first Communion — is celebrated each year on the Solemnity of Christ the King, the final Sunday of the Church's liturgical year, for adults who have already received the sacrament of baptism or are entering into full communion with the Catholic Church.

On the Solemnity of All Saints, Nov. 1, the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament hosted the faithful for a special celebration of the Church's saints, complete with the veneration of more than 70 sacred relics from throughout the Church's history.
