On Sunday, July 12, Archbishop Weisenburger baptized baby William James Mauk at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit, joining William’s parents and family members for a joyous celebration and reception. Through the sacrament of baptism, William received God’s grace as a new Christian, with his parents and godparents pledging to support him as he grows in the faith. William is the grandson of Patricia Valenti, a coworker of the archbishop’s in the Archdiocese of Detroit’s chancery.

On Thursday, July 2, leaders of the Chaldean Community Foundation invited Archbishop Weisenburger to tour the foundation's community center in West Bloomfield. The newly renovated, 42,184-square-foot facility, which opened in 2025, houses the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, the Chaldean Community Foundation, Chaldean News and serves as a hub for other community resources and services, including the Bishop Ibrahim Library, Chaldean Museum, classrooms, a 72-seat theater, as well as radio and podcast studios that are utilized by the Chaldean Catholic community. Founded in 2006, the Chaldean Community Foundation serves tens of thousands of immigrants and individuals each year from 70 countries of origin, focusing on health, advocacy, stability and wellness.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation this weekend, and mindful of our baptismal call to promote the common good and the God-given dignity of our brothers and sisters through civic participation, Archbishop Weisenburger invites the faithful to reflect this week upon these passages from Pope Leo XIV’s recent encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas. May God guide our democracy, keeping us ever mindful of our responsibility to our neighbors, to our country, and to our Lord.

On a blistering hot Thursday, July 2, Archbishop Weisenburger stopped to enjoy a Detroit staple for lunch: a loaded coney dog and fries! "It was so worth the calories," the archbishop said.

Archbishop Weisenburger sailed down the Detroit River on Tuesday evening, June 30, in a riverboat owned by Diamond Jack's River Tours for an annual evening of fraternity with priests of the Archdiocese of Detroit. The event, hosted by the archbishop and organized by Deacon Aaron Poyer, brought archdiocesan priests together for fellowship and dinner while cruising down the river.
