On May 24, the Solemnity of Pentecost, Archbishop Weisenburger presided over the confirmation of adults at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit, a beautiful reminder that the Holy Spirit continues to call and strengthen disciples in every generation.

On Saturday, May 23, Archbishop Weisenburger presided over the ordination of four new priests for the Archdiocese of Detroit, as newly ordained Frs. Lizandro Barba, Karl Finkbeiner, James Musgrave and Daniel Whalen received holy orders at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Detroit through the laying on of hands. Please pray for Detroit's new priests as they begin their ministry of service to God's people in southeast Michigan!

From May 20-22, Archbishop Weisenburger traveled to Mackinac Island in northern Michigan for the annual Knights of Columbus State Convention at the Grand Hotel, where he gave the keynote address on May 20. The yearly gathering of Knights from throughout Michigan includes several Masses, a living rosary, updates and discussions about issues impacting the Knights, and the election of officers who will lead the statewide council in charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism over the next year. On Tuesday, May 19, following an ordination rehearsal at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Archbishop Weisenburger hosted the transitional deacons who will be ordained to the priesthood this weekend for the Archdiocese of Detroit. The archbishop blessed the ordinandi's chalices and patens, which they will receive May 23 at their ordination, and enjoyed dinner and fraternity. Pictured with the archbishop (left to right) are Deacons Karl Finkbeiner, Lizandro Barba and Daniel Whalen. Deacon James Musgrave, who will also be ordained on May 23, was unable to attend.

On Monday, May 18, Archbishop Weisenburger attended a meeting of the board of trustees of Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, the final board meeting in the "long and highly productive tenure" of outgoing rector and longtime faculty member Fr. Stephen Burr, who will return to parish ministry in July. Left to right, pictured are Fr. Tim Birney, Dr. Isaiah McKinnon, Mrs. Ann Thomas Battersby, Mr. Michael Ritchie, Fr. Stephen Burr, Brig. The meeting was also the final board meeting for Fausone and Ritchie, whose terms are concluding.
