Sr. Patricia Spangler, OP, formerly Sr. Anne Robert Spangler, died July 29 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 83 and in her 66th year in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Spangler was born in Chicago to Robert and Anna (Rezac) Spangler. She earned degrees from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian; DePaul University in Chicago; and Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

Sr. Spangler spent 21 years ministering in education in Michigan and Illinois, and an additional 20 years in pastoral, spiritual and adult formation in Michigan, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Kentucky and Kansas. In Michigan, she taught at St. Edward, Detroit (1953-54); Holy Name, Detroit (1954-60); and St. Gregory, Newberry (1960-61). She also served as driver for the transportation services at Maria Health Care Center in Adrian for one year, and as a volunteer tutor for Adrian Rea Literacy Center (2010-13).

A funeral Mass was offered in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian on Aug. 2. Rite of Committal was to be in the Congregation cemetery.
