Sr. Mary Margaret Donnelly, formerly known as Sr. Dennis Catherine Donnelly, died at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 86 and in 67th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. Donnelly was born in Chicago to Dennis and Catherine (Murray) Donnelly. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian. She received a bachelor of philosophy degree in English and a master of teaching degree in elementary education, both from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.

Sister spent 50 years ministering in education in Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. In Michigan, she taught at St. Gabriel School, Detroit (1947-49); St. Edward School, Detroit (1949-52); St. Mary School, Rockwood (1952-53); and St. Mary School, New Baltimore (1955-63). She also taught at Santa Maria Del Popolo School in Mundelein, Ill., for 24 years. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in 2002.

Sr. Donnelly is survived by four brothers: Dr. John Donnelly of Huntley, Ill.; Edward Donnelly of Griffith, Ind.; Dr. Kevin Donnelly of Vista, Calif.; and Daniel Donnelly of Chicago.

The funeral liturgy was offered in St. Catherine Chapel on May 13. Burial will be in the Congregation cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, Michigan, 49221.
