Sr. Mary Diane McMeekin, OP, formerly Sr. Robert Lorraine McMeekin, died Aug. 10 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 77 and in her 58th year in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sr. McMeekin was born in Detroit to Robert and Lorraine (Leduc) McMeekin. She earned her degree from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, and also held certificates for religious education from the Orlando Diocese, CPR/First Aid, and a license as a pre-school director from the state of Florida.

Sr. McMeekin spent 27 years ministering in education in Michigan and Florida. In Michigan, she taught at St. Luke, Flint (1961-64); St. Brigid, Detroit (1964-67); Guardian Angels, Clawson (1967-69); and St. Lawrence, Detroit (1969-70).

A funeral Mass was offered in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian on Aug. 14. Rite of Committal was to be in the Congregation cemetery.
