Sr. Mae Tack, OP, formerly known as Sr. Catherine Aloysius Tack, died Dec. 3 at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was 81 and in the 61st year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.
She was born in Wyandotte, to Aloysius and Catherine (Behm) Tack. She graduated from St. Patrick High School in Wyandotte, , and received a Bachelor of Home Economics degree from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian, and a Master of Home Economics degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing.
Sr. Tack spent 35 years ministering in education in Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Ohio, including locally at St. Jude, Detroit (1951-55); St. Mary, Rockwood (1956-60); St. Lawrence, Utica (1960-62); and Dominican High School, Detroit (1964-78).
She was the Mailroom Coordinator of the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse for seven years, and became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2004.
Sr. Tack is survived by cousins.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 8 in St. Catherine Chapel at the motherhouse in Adrian. Burial was in the congregation’s cemetery.
