Sr. Janet Michael Hudspeth, OP, formerly Peggy Joan Hudspeth, died Sept. 18 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 84 and in her 65th year in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

She was born in Petersburg, Ill., to Harvey and Helen (Rebbe) Hudspeth. She earned degrees from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian and was certified in Clinical Pastoral Education by Harper-Grace Hospital in Detroit.

Sr. Hudspeth ministered for almost 20 years in elementary education in Illinois, Iowa and Michigan, including at Guardian Angels, Clawson (1951-57). She also ministered as hospital chaplain for four years at Harper-Grace Hospital, and for 14 years as director of pastoral care at Detroit Receiving Hospital. She served the Adrian Dominican Sisters as director of the associate program for three years, and as director of planned giving for nine years.

Sr. Hudspeth is survived by a sister, Janet Hudspeth of Madison Heights; and a brother, David Hudspeth of Placenta, Calif. Funeral Mass was offered in St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian on Sept. 22. Rite of Committal was to be in the Congregation cemetery.
