DETROIT — Seminarians at Sacred Heart Major Seminary dressed up in costumes to hand out candy, sweet treats and smiles to hundreds of local children Oct. 31.

The seminary's annual "Spooktacular" celebration is a chance for men studying for the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Detroit and surrounding dioceses to spend time getting to know families in the area, having a little fun in the process.

Lines wrapped around the seminary as families and kids waited for their turn to load up on Snickers, M&Ms, Reese's and other treats and share a laugh with the seminarians, who dressed up as football players, doctors, movie characters and other creative costumes.

The candy was collected and donated throughout the month of October by parishes and schools throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit.
