During Year of Prayer for Priestly Vocations, Archdiocese of Detroit honors dedication, compassionate service of 2022 jubilarians

DETROIT — They are there during life's best moments, and they are there during life's worst moments. They celebrate baptisms, first Communions, weddings, funerals and confirmations. They spend countless hours in the confessional, in silent prayer, in hospitals with the sick and dying, and counseling parishioners.

They are priests — ordained once for the service of a lifetime.

This year, 44 priests of the Archdiocese of Detroit are celebrating special anniversaries of their ordination, totaling a combined 2,085 years in ministry. If you stacked the years on top of one another, it would stretch back to before the time of Christ.

This year's jubilarians celebrated a special Mass on June 8 with Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.

During this Year of Prayer for Priestly Vocations, join Detroit Catholic and the Archdiocese of Detroit in thanking, celebrating and praying for all our priests, but especially those celebrating 25, 30, 40, 50 and 60 years in the priesthood, as well as those celebrating anniversaries greater than 60 years.
