STERLING HEIGHTS — On Divine Mercy Sunday, more than 400 cars arrived in the parking lot of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Sterling Heights to pray.

It was a Sunday, but it was anything but normal.

Standing before a large cutout of Jesus the Divine Mercy, imposed over a red and white background — the colors of the Polish flag — Fr. Andrzej Maslejak, SChr., the Polish-speaking parish’s pastor, led the congregation in a Holy Hour.

The prayers took place starting at 3 p.m., traditionally believed to be the hour of Jesus’ death on the cross, and now known as the “Hour of Divine Mercy.”

Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish shared some images of the Holy Hour with Detroit Catholic, below.
