DETROIT — As the Archdiocese of Detroit embarks on a Year of Prayer for Priestly Vocations, the archdiocese's Office of Priestly Vocations is seeking to ensure priests know how much they're loved, appreciated and supported.

The office, led by Fr. Craig Giera, is collecting prayer intentions, letters of support and stories about priests that will be shared with priests during Priesthood Sunday, Sept. 25.

"In recognizing all that priests do for the community, both seen and unseen, we are offering parishioners a chance to prayerfully and formally thank the men who have offered their lives to God in the form of a spiritual bouquet," a webpage for the initiative states.

Part of the spiritual bouquet includes "an option to share a story about how this priest's ministry has impacted your life." Individuals and families can also commit to praying for their priest throughout the year, whether in the form of Masses, rosaries, regular Stations of the Cross and other forms of prayer.

The stories and letters collected will be shared in a special feature on Detroit Catholic near Priesthood Sunday.
