DEARBORN HEIGHTS — Mitch Koleczko has been reviewing fish fries on his Facebook and Instagram page, Mitch's Friday Fish Fry Reviews, for nine Lents. This year, Koleczko — who has built a small but devoted following as the "fish fry guy" in Metro Detroit — will share his reviews, always in good spirit, with Detroit Catholic.
If you missed Detroit Catholic's interview with Mitch, check it out here. To find a fish fry near you in the Archdiocese of Detroit, visit FishFryFinder.org.
On the third Friday of Lent, March 10, Koleczko visited St. Sabina Parish in Dearborn Heights. Here's Mitch:

Happy Friday everybody! Fish Fry #53 took place at St. Sabina Parish in Dearborn Heights, located at 25555 Ann Arbor Trail. The fish fry takes place in the Activity Hall/Gymnasium.
When I arrived, it was steady and busy. Head over to the activities center; there is a side door off the parking lot. You will order and pay at the table as you enter the gym (cash only!). You will be given your order form, take that over to the kitchen where they will take your order and you're given a tray. The order is filled at the window while you wait (cafeteria style). Find yourself a seat at a table. Plenty of rectangular tables were set up. Enjoy meeting new friends. Carry out orders are available at a separate window. Everything was fast and efficient, and they use real utensils, too.
Food was delicious ... menu was simple with some good choices. Shrimp, Mac n Cheese, pierogi (three types available). Check out the picture of the menu for all of the options. Desserts available for a cost of $.50-$1.50.
As I was leaving, it was nice seeing a member of the Dearborn Heights Fire Department picking up food and supporting them. Thanks DHFD for what you do!
Coffee, tea, water, pop are available and included with the meal. Just head over to a different window for that.
The money raised goes toward various parish upgrades. St. Sabina also does a fish fry in October to raise money for various charities.
Thank you St. Sabina for your hospitality. Everyone I met was very friendly and welcoming. Thanks to Neal Niemiec for spending a few minutes with me. Especially the volunteers and kitchen crew ... they were very polite and worked diligently. Great job on all of the hard work you do. If you're in the Dearborn Heights area head over and support them.
Thanks again for reading. Please share, follow and like the main Fish Fry page.
