May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Sue McMahon, OP

Sr. Sue McMahon, OP, a Dominican Sister of Peace, died in Waterford on Jan. 6, 2023.

She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 12, 1942 and entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Rose of Lima (Oxford Dominicans) in 1968. She earned her B.A. from Oakland University and her MA from Catholic University and her degree in Nursing Home Administration at Oakland Community College. She ministered as religious education coordinator at Immaculate Conception in Lapeer and St. Michael in Pontiac, MI. She taught at St. Sylvester in Warren, Michigan. She was Administrator at Lourdes Nursing Home in Waterford where she eventually became a volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas McMahon and Hazel Shipley McMahon, her brothers Robert, John, Thomas, Richard and James McMahon and her sisters Rosemary Currier, Kathleen Michaels and Patricia Zurbriggen. She is survived by her sister Joan Flanigan and her brother Dennis McMahon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Mass of Christian burial took place at the Lourdes Senior Community chapel at 2300 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford, Michigan on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Burial will be in Oxford at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery.
