May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Margaret Lane, OP

Sr. Margaret Lane, OP, baptized Julia Marie, died on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She was 92 years of age and in the 74th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Margaret was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Timothy and Margaret (Conway) Lane. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in Detroit, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Barry College (University) in Miami, Florida, and was certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Florida Board of Nursing.

Sister spent 55 years ministering in Adrian, Detroit, Southfield, Troy, and Mt. Clemens, Michigan; Chicago and Maywood, Illinois; Jacksonville, Miami, West Palm Beach and Miami Shores, Florida; Washington, D.C.; Managua, Nicaragua; San Juan de la Maguana, Santo Domingo, Las Matas, La Romana, Guaymate, and Fundacion Bani, Dominican Republic; CD Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico; and Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her ministries included elementary and secondary education, religious formation, nursing and parish pastoral work. She also volunteered for the New Orleans Project in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in 2011.

Sister Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Kathleen Bouthillet and Lillian Eberjer; and a brother, Kevin Lane. She is survived by a sister, Peggy McLeod of Montgomery, Texas; other loving family; and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, August 1, 2022, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Prayers of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI, 49221.
