May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Anne Beauvais, OP

Sr. Anne Beauvais, OP, formerly known as Sr. Joseph Anthony, died on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at the ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital in Adrian. She was 88 years of age and in the 69th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister Anne was born in Libertyville, Illinois, to Erneste and Marian (Hallinan) Beauvais. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian, and obtained a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in English and a Master of Education degree in School Administration and Supervision of Schools, both from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.

Sister Anne spent over 38 years ministering in education in Detroit, Michigan; Homewood, Chicago, Loves Park, Harvey, and River Grove, Illinois; and Las Vegas, Nevada. This included nine years as principal at Ascension School in Harvey and 12 years as principal at Our Lady of Westside in Chicago and three years as administrative secretary at St. Cyprian School in River Grove. She served at Mercy Hospital in Chicago 10 years as receptionist and pastoral care worker and 11 years as a chaplain. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in 2020.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Spokas and Mary Baum; and three brothers, Tom Beauvais, Paul Beauvais and Ernest Beauvais. She is survived by her sister, Cecile Harris of Libertyville, Illinois, and her brother, Rev. David E. Beauvais of Freeport, Illinois, as well as nieces and nephews and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Due to COVID-19 mitigation protocols, the Dominican Life Center is closed to all guests or visitors until further notice. All are welcome to participate in Sister’s wake and funeral via live stream at http://www.adriandominicans.org/LiveStream.aspx

The Vigil Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 29, 2021, in St. Catherine Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Catherine Chapel at 10:30 am Thursday, December 30, 2021. Prayers of Committal will be held in the Congregation Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI, 49221.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
