Fr. Robert W. Haener passed on from this life on April 10, 2024, at the age of 92.
Fr. Haener was born on Sept. 27, 1931, and ordained a priest on June 1, 1957.
Fr. Haener was pastor of
St. Anthony Parish, Temperance; St. Joseph Parish, Erie; and St. Pius X Parish,
Southgate. He also was parochial vicar at St. Gerard Parish, Detroit; St.
Frances Cabrini Parish, Allen Park; and principal of Bishop Foley Catholic
High School, Madison Heights. Fr. Haener was permanently removed from active
ministry on June 21, 2002, according to the norms of the Dallas Charter for the
Protection of Children and Young People.
Visitation for Fr. Haener will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Road (at Jackman), Temperance, Michigan. He will lie in state at 10 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, Michigan. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Fr. Haener was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Katherine (Schratz) Haener, and several siblings. He is survived by his sister, Pat Thiesen, and many nieces and nephews.
