Fr. Randal Joyce, CP, entered eternal life on Sept. 22, 2019, at the age of 97.

Fr. Joyce was born on March 18, 1922, and professed his final vows to the Passionists in July of 1943. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 1950.

Fr. Joyce served in many roles in many different cities across the United States. He became a member of the preaching team at St. Paul on the Cross Retreat & Conference Center in Detroit in 1969, serving there until 1982. Fr. Joyce later became the local superior of the Passionist community in Cincinnati from 1983 to 1984. 

In his last years, Fr. Joyce served in what he called a “front door ministry” at the Passionist community at St. Paul of the Cross Retreat and Conference Center in Detroit, being available to help others, in addition to his helping out in various parishes and visiting the sick.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City, MI 48135. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. A wake will take place from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Parish, 29015 Jamison St., Livonia, MI 48154. A funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m.
