Fr. Jerome Walsh passed on from this life on April 25, 2021, at the age of 78.
Fr. Walsh was born on June 14, 1942, in Detroit, and ordained a priest on June 28, 1969, in Louvain, Belgium. He earned degrees from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the University of Michigan.
Fr. Walsh served as associate pastor at St. Ambrose Parish, Grosse Pointe Park, from 1969-72.
He also served as an instructor at St. John Provincial Seminary, Mary Immaculate Seminary (Northampton), St. John’s University (New York), the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception (Rockville Center), the University of Botswana and the University of Dallas.
Fr. Walsh’s body will be cremated and interred in Texas, where he had been living prior to his death. A Mass for the Dead was offered at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
Fr. Walsh was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Madeleine Walsh. He is survived by many cousins. Condolences may be sent to his cousin, Judy Springsdorf, at 4650 Old Orchard Drive, Kewadin, MI 49648.
