May They Rest in Peace: Fr. Francis A. Weingartz

Fr. Francis A. Weingartz entered eternal life on Oct. 2, 2024, at the age of 96.

Fr. Weingartz was born on July 15, 1928, in Center Line, Michigan, and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 5, 1954.

Fr. Weingartz served as pastor of St. Daniel Parish, Clarkston; Patronage of St. Joseph Parish, Detroit; St. Mary Parish, Port Huron; and St. Dorothy Parish, Center Line; administrator of All Saints Parish, Memphis; Sacred Heart Mission, Brown City; St. Mary Burnside Parish, North Branch; St. Alfred Parish, Taylor; St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, St. Clair Shores; St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Newport; St. Rita Parish, Holly; and associate pastor at St. Mary of Redford Parish, Detroit; St. Bartholomew Parish, Detroit; St. Gerard Parish, Detroit; St. Isidore Parish, Macomb Township; and St. Lawrence Parish, Utica. Fr. Weingartz was granted senior status on July 1, 1998.

Visitation will take place at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 4061 St. Clair Highway, China Township, Michigan, 48054, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 2 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Visitation will continue at St. Augustine Parish, 68035 Main Street, Richmond Michigan, 48063 on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 9:30 a.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Richmond.

Fr. Weingartz was predeceased by his parents, Christopher and Agnes (Robinet) Weingartz and his brothers, Anthony Weingartz, Leo Weingartz, Vincent (Laura) Weingartz, Thomas (Agnes) Weingartz, Clement (Catherine) Weingartz and both sister and brother-in-law Anne (Benjamin) Schweihofer. He is survived by his sister, Rita (Patrick) Franckowiak and sisters-in-law, Marion (Anthony) Weingartz and Mary (Leo) Weingartz and many nieces and nephews.
