Fr. Alfred J. Miller passed away May 19, 2021. He was 82.
Alfred J. Miller was born on May 31, 1938 to Earl and Catherine Miller. He was ordained a priest by then-Archbishop John F. Dearden of Detroit on June 6, 1964.
After ordination, Fr. Miller served as an associate pastor at St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Allen Park, St. Mary Parish in Monroe and St. Jospeh Parish in Erie. He was also an administrator at St. Hugh Parish in Southgate.
Fr. Miller later was pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Temperance and St. Patrick Parish in Wyandotte.
On Aug. 11, 2005, Fr. Miller was permanently removed from active ministry according to the norms of the Dallas Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
Fr. Miller’s body was cremated in Florida, where he had been living at the time of his death. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Clearwater, Fla. A Mass for the Dead will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on July 8 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Toledo, Ohio, followed by internment at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Resurrection Cemetery in Temperance.
