May They Rest in Peace: Deacon Frederick F. Burrell

Deacon Frederick F. Burrell, passed on from this life on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the age of 79. Deacon Burrell was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou.

Deacon Burrell was born Feb. 9, 1943, and was ordained to the permanent diaconate on Oct. 2, 2004.

Deacon Burrell served at St. Raphael Parish in Garden City from the time of his ordination until July 1, 2014, when St. Raphael Parish was merged with St. Dunstan Parish and became St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. Deacon Burrell continued to serve at St. Thomas the Apostle until his retirement in January 2018. Deacon Burrell also spent some time in a secondary assignment, assigned to the Diaconate Assignment Board of the Office for the Permanent Diaconate, as regional coordinator for the Northwest Regions for Vicariates 2 and 5.

Visitation for Deacon Burrell will take place Tuesday, March 22, from 2-7 p.m., at John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Rd, Garden City, MI 48135, with Rosary at 6 pm. Deacon Burrell’s funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 31530 Beechwood Ave, Garden City, MI 48135. In state will begin at St. Thomas the Apostle at 10 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass.
