DETROIT — Hundreds attended an annual conference of the Federation of Associations of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Aug. 13 at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.
The purpose of the conference, given in Spanish, is to highlight the truth and facts about Our Lady of Guadalupe, to encourage devotion and to inspire Catholics to use her example to give witness to the world.
This year's speaker was Msgr. Eduardo Chavez, postulator for the cause of canonization of St. Juan Diego, a Chichimec peasant who in 1531 was granted a series of apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Tepeyac Hill in Mexico. Msgr. Chavez is the co-founder of the Institute of Higher Studies of Our Lady of Guadalupe and canon of the Basilica of Guadalupe.
