DETROIT — At 2 p.m. today, Nov. 7, Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron and the priests, deacons, religious and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Detroit will welcome Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton as the 32nd auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese during a special liturgy at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
All are welcome to attend.
The Mass, known as the Liturgy of Welcome and Inauguration of Ministry, will feature the reading of an official papal decree assigning Bishop Monforton to the Archdiocese of Detroit, which will be proclaimed by Cardinal Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States.
Archbishop Vigneron, as principal celebrant, will introduce Bishop Monforton, who, after showing the papal decree to the faithful and clergy gathered, will offer the homily, followed by welcome from representatives of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
A reception will follow at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.
The liturgy will be livestreamed on the Archdiocese of Detroit’s Facebook page, YouTube channel and on aod.org.
