DETROIT — Holy Week began in the Archdiocese of Detroit on Sunday, April 13, as Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger celebrated Palm Sunday Mass at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Reflecting upon the Lord's Passion, and upon Peter's betrayal and subsequent reconciliation with Jesus, the archbishop urged local Catholics to similarly spend time praying and reflecting upon their own relationship with Jesus.

“Brothers and sisters, spend a little time today — or at least early in this sacred Holy Week — in prayer," Archbishop Weisenburger said. "And perhaps you shouldn’t be surprised if you once again encounter that look from him; let that look from Jesus speak to your sins, your failings, but let it also speak to his mercy and to the deeper friendship to which he calls you.

"And don’t be surprised if you find yourself a little swept up by the glory of his Passion, and the even far greater glory of the resurrection he has earned for you.”
