Father Joseph Duc Vu passed on from this life on March 23, 2011 at the age of 66.
 
Father Vu was ordained for the Archdiocese of Thành-Phô Hô Chí Minh, Vietnam, on May 1, 1970, where he served in several capacities.  He arrived in the Archdiocese of Detroit in 1993 and was assigned to Veterans Hospital in Allen Park by the Archdiocese for Military Services. During his time here, Father Vu worked as a Central Service employee in the Department of Parish Life and Services as a Chaplain at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit while remaining on assignment at John D. Dingell Veterans Administration Medical Center, also in Detroit.
 
Father Vu will be waked at Our Lady of Grace Vietnamese Parish, 26256 Ryan Road, Warren, on Thursday, March 24 and Friday, March 25 beginning at 7 p.m. A rosary will be prayed on Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m. and a Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 25 at 7 p.m.
 
On Saturday, March 26, Father Vu will lie in repose from 8:30 a.m. until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 9:30. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25100 W. 10 Mile Road, Southfield.
 
Father Vu is survived by his brothers Peter, Dao, and Chinh; sisters Khiem, Nhuong, Huong, and Lien; many nieces and nephews; and his spiritual family.  Condolences may be sent to Our Lady of Grace Vietnamese Parish.
