More than 50 speakers slated to give talks during ‘Listening for God’ Conference April 16-18, including well-known authors, evangelists

ANN ARBOR — Catholic radio personality Teresa Tomeo is urging Catholics not to “cancel God” in their lives, but instead turn to him in life’s toughest moments. 

Tomeo, host of the “Catholic Connection” radio program on Ave Maria Radio (990-AM) and author of the book “Listening for God: Discovering the Incredible Ways God Speaks to Us,” will host a free virtual conference April 16-18 focused on helping Catholics “not only recognize how God ‘speaks’ to each of us, but also to anticipate his ‘voice’ and his outreach in our daily lives.”

The “Listening for God” Conference will feature talks from more than 50 well-known Catholic authors, experts and media personalities, including Jeff Cavins, Fr. Mitch Pacwa, SJ, Steve Ray, Damon Owens, Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, Edward Sri, Al Kresta, Jason and Crystalina Evert and others. 

In a time when “cancel culture” runs amok, God's voice can be difficult to hear and discern through the noise, Tomeo said. 

God’s “voice” isn't always audible, Tomeo added, but is “made known to us through so many different ways — including prayer, Scripture, silence, sacraments, suffering, through other people, the saints, beauty and in the world around us, and much, much more.”

Conference speakers will address a wide range of topics, including how to deal with fear and anxiety, how to enhance one’s prayer life, and recognizing what Tomeo calls “God-cidences” — moments of grace — in one’s life.

“Regardless of where one is in their faith journey, I think everyone has had those moments — whether they’re driving down the street thinking about someone and that someone’s favorite song comes on the radio, or when they go to Mass and the readings or prayers of that day speak directly and exactly to what you’re dealing with,” Tomeo said. “That’s God’s loving ‘voice‘ reaching out to us in that ‘godcidence.’”

The conference’s more than 70 talks will be available for free during the weekend conference, and those who wish to purchase a “premium pass” can access the talks until Dec. 31, 2021. 

In addition, the conference will feature three live panel discussions focused on hearing God’s voice through the Scriptures, prayer and in everyday life.
