Detroit Catholic en Español, the official Spanish-language news publication of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, seeks a bilingual reporter with a knack for finding unique stories, positive angles and writing compelling, thought-provoking journalistic pieces for a Catholic, Spanish-speaking audience.
The ideal candidate should have journalism writing experience, a passion for the Catholic faith, be comfortable conducting interviews and taking photographs and be willing to travel locally within the six-county Archdiocese of Detroit to cover assignments. The reporter will be responsible for pitching and covering 1-2 stories per week of relevance to Spanish-speaking Catholics, keeping abreast of newsworthy events, ministries and individuals.
Candidates must be fluent in Spanish and English, with excellent writing skills. Photography skills are a plus. This is a contract-based position, with terms negotiable based on a candidate’s experience and qualifications.
