FARMINGTON HILLS — Hundreds gathered to praise the Lord in song during the annual Black Catholic Ministries Gospel Choir Concert, held Nov. 5 at Mercy High School in Farmington Hills.

The 80-member choir, led by John J.F. Thorne, featured singers from church choirs from across the Archdiocese of Detroit. The evening's theme, "Created to Worship," was inspired by Isaiah 43:21, "the people whom I formed for myself so that they might declare my praise."

The concert commemorates Black Catholic History Month, which is celebrated each year in November, and is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Detroit's Office of Cultural Ministries.
