ROME — Bishop-elect Robert McClory, who on Nov. 26 was named the fifth bishop of Gary, Ind., said he is looking forward to serving his new flock in a new way after he is consecrated a bishop on Feb. 11.
The pastor of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica in Royal Oak recently completed his first ad limina pilgrimage as a shepherd of the Church, including visits to the tombs of the apostles Peter and Paul and a meeting with Pope Francis.
Though not yet ordained a bishop, Bishop-elect McClory visited the Vatican Dec. 9-12 along with the bishops from Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. During his pilgrimage, Bishop-elect McClory sat down with Rome Reports for a special video interview on behalf of Detroit Catholic.
