Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron announces the following appointments:
Monsignor Gary Smetanka appointed Moderator of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Grosse Pointe Woods; St. Veronica Parish, Eastpointe; St. Lucy Parish, St. Clair Shores; St. Joan of Arc Parish, St. Clair Shores; St. Basil the Great Parish, Eastpointe, that form SERF Vicariate Family 2, where he currently serves as a member of the In Solidum team of priests who pastor this family, effective July 1, 2024.
Reverend Gregory Banazak is given permission to accept a full-time teaching position in theology at the University of Detroit Mercy as well as being assigned Weekend Priest Support to the In Solidum team of priests who pastor Our Lady of the Woods Parish, Woodhaven; Sacred Heart Parish, Grosse Ile; Saint Cyprian Parish, Riverview; Saint Joseph Parish, Trenton; Saint Roch Parish, Flat Rock; Saint Timothy Parish, Trenton; that form the Downriver Missionaries of Christ Family of Parishes, effective August 16, 2024. Father Banazak is currently serving as priest In Solidum at the same Family of Parishes.
