Archdiocese of Detroit clergy appointments: June 6, 2022

Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron announces the following appointments:

Fr. John Carlin granted a temporary personal leave of absence effective June 1, 2022. Fr. Carlin is currently serving as parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish, Lake Orion.

Fr. Godfrey Mgonja, CSSp, with the concurrence of his provincial, Fr. Donald McEachin, CSSp, to be appointed a member of the In Solidum team of priests who will pastor Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Detroit; Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Detroit; St. Aloysius Parish, Detroit; St. Mary Parish (Greektown), Detroit; that form Renaissance Vicariate Family 1, effective May 16, 2022. Pending inclusion in the Family Priests’ Covenant, Fr. Mgonja will serve primarily at St. Mary Parish (Greektown), Detroit. Fr. Mgonja previously served outside of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Fr. Placido Pereira, MSFS, with the concurrence of his provincial superior, Very Reverend Tomy Joseph Puliyan, MSFS, to be appointed a member of the In Solidum team of priests who will pastor St. Mary Parish, Milford; Holy Spirit Parish, Highland; St. Patrick Parish, White Lake; St. Perpetua Parish, Waterford; that form Lakes Vicariate Family 2, effective May 23, 2022. Pending inclusion in the Family Priests’ Covenant, Fr. Pereira will serve primarily at St. Mary Parish, Milford. Fr. Pereira previously served outside of the Archdiocese of Detroit.
