Archdiocese of Detroit clergy announcements: Dec. 18, 2023

Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron announces the following appointments:

Fr. James Mayworm to transfer as a priest In Solidum to the team of priests who pastor St. Hugo of the Hills, Bloomfield Hills; Sacred Heart Parish, Auburn Hills; St. Thomas More Parish, Troy; St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Pontiac; and, additionally, St. Benedict Parish, Waterford; effective Jan. 8, 2024. Pending inclusion in the Family Priests’ Covenant, Fr. Mayworm will continue to primarily serve at St. Benedict Parish, Waterford. This transfer is necessitated by the fact that the archbishop has reassigned St. Benedict Parish to another pastoral unit (Family of Parishes) and the priests responsible for the other parishes in the Family now also care for St. Benedict Parish.

Fr. Andrew Dawson to transfer as a priest In Solidum to the team of priests who pastor St. Fabian Parish, Farmington Hills; Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Farmington; and St. Andrew Kim Parish, Northville; and, additionally, Prince of Peace Parish, West Bloomfield and Our Lady of Refuge Parish, Orchard Lake; effective Jan. 8, 2024. Pending inclusion in the Family Priests’ Covenant, Fr. Dawson will continue to primarily serve at Prince of Peace Parish, West Bloomfield. This transfer is necessitated by Archbishop Vigneron’s reassignment of Prince of Peace Parish and Our Lady of Refuge Parish to another pastoral unit (Family of Parishes). The priests responsible for the other parishes in the Family now also care for Prince of Peace and Our Lady of Refuge Parishes. To that end, and pending inclusion in the Family Priests’ Covenant, Fr. Derik Peterman will principally care for Our Lady of Refuge Parish effective Jan. 8, 2024.

Bishop Walter Hurley, with the agreement of Archbishop Vigneron, will end his In Solidum care of Our Lady of Refuge Parish, Orchard Lake; Prince of Peace Parish, West Bloomfield; and St. Benedict Parish, Waterford, effective Jan. 8, 2024. The archbishop expresses his continued gratitude to Bishop Hurley and other senior clergy for their generosity in helping him and the presbyterate care for Christ’s faithful in sometimes difficult circumstances.
