Archbishop Weisenburger delivers first homily as Archbishop of Detroit (VIDEO)

DETROIT — During a solemn Mass on March 18, 2025, in which he was installed as the sixth Archbishop of Detroit, Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger addressed Detroit’s faithful for the first time from the pulpit of the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

In his homily, Archbishop Weisenburger thanked the many people who have supported and inspired him, including Pope Francis, Cardinal Christophe Pierre, family, friends, clergy and religious, adding a special word of gratitude to his predecessor, Archbishop-emeritus Allen H. Vigneron.

Turning to the Scriptures, Archbishop Weisenburger reflected upon Jesus’ question to Peter in the Gospel, “Do you love me?” — saying it’s a question the Lord asks “in every age and to everyone.”

“And the answer, in our words and in the response of our lives, will make all the difference,” he said.
