DETROIT — Five years after Synod 16, the Archdiocese of Detroit has experienced much fruit from the historic, three-day gathering at St. Aloysius Church and the Westin Book Cadillac in downtown Detroit held the weekend of Nov. 18-20, 2016.
The synod was convened to invite the Holy Spirit to renew the structure and missionary identity of the archdiocese, Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron said in an interview reflecting on the synod's graces. The archbishop said he’s grateful for the ways in which God continues to bless and work in the local Church, both during the synod and in the years following.
