DETROIT — Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron will update the Archdiocese of Detroit of the progress of the implementation of Unleash the Gospel, the pastoral letter that followed Synod 16, during the vigil Mass of Pentecost at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament on May 19.
Archbishop Vigneron will use his homily during the 7 p.m. Mass to give a “progress report” about the letter, which was released at Pentecost 2017 and is serving as a charter for the archdiocese’s evangelization efforts.
Several of the letter’s action steps have been under way in the past year — including those that have been highlighted by The Michigan Catholic’s Unleash the Gospel special section — with more to come in the months and years ahead.
Archbishop Vigneron’s homily will reflect on the culture change in the archdiocese since the letter’s release, while Fr. Stephen Pullis, director of evangelization, catechesis and schools for the archdiocese, will offer a look at the concrete actions that have taken place.
Praise and worship music in both English and Spanish will take place after Mass.
Earlier in the day, Archbishop Vigneron will ordain three men to the priesthood for the archdiocese (see page 3).
