DETROIT — Professionals from all walks of business life gathered Oct. 17 at Sacred Heart Major Seminary to praise God and join in a common faith during the 31st annual Mass for Commerce.

The annual celebration serves as an opportunity for business leaders, working professionals, managers and entrepreneurs to network with other like-minded Catholics while sharing in the Eucharist and a fellowship luncheon.

Bishop John M. Quinn, retired bishop of Winona-Rochester, Minn., and a former Detroit auxiliary bishop, celebrated the Mass for dozens of professionals in Sacred Heart's chapel, along with Deacon Michael Houghton, executive director of UTG at Work and Deacon David Casnovsky of the Archdiocese of Detroit's Department of Clergy and Consecrated Life. Fr. Stephen Burr, rector of Sacred Heart, concelebrated.

Students from several Detroit-area Catholic high schools, including St. Catherine of Siena Academy in Wixom, the Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Clinton Township, Regina High School in Warren, and De La Salle High School in Warren, also participated in the liturgy, with several students singing in the choir.
