Members of the archdiocesan curia gathered for one final time March 12 to pray with the outgoing leader of the Archdiocese of Detroit, as Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron offered his thanks and bid farewell to those he's called his "coworkers" and "friends" over the past 16 years.

The movement of the Holy Spirit was heard loud and clear Saturday evening when Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Detroit was filled with song and music. Dr. Williams S. Harrison led the Feb. 22 performance of "Songs of Freedom: Celebrating the Sacred Music of African American Composers" at the east-side Detroit church.

Early Feb. 11, the faithful of the Archdiocese of Detroit received word from the Vatican that Pope Francis had accepted the resignation of Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron and appointed Bishop Edward J. Weisenburger of Tucson, Arizona, as the next archbishop of Detroit.

The annual commemoration occurs on the Sunday closest to the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Feb. 11, a devotion of special significance to Archbishop Vigneron and his fellow Knights and Dames of the Order of Malta.
