The Catholic High School League and Macomb County high schools will start the basketball season off on a grand scale the next two weekends: Friday-Saturday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, and Friday-Saturday, Dec. 7-8.

An expanded CHSL and MAC (Macomb Area Conference) Challenge will involve six all-boys schools, five all-girls schools and 15 coed schools from the CHSL against 20 MAC schools.

In the first two years, the competition was limited to the top five schools selected from each league in what was dubbed the Calihan Hall Challenge, since the games are played at the University of Detroit Mercy.

In the boys' Calihan challenge, the CHSL has won eight of the 10 matches, while the girls' record is 5-5.

BOYS GAMES: Friday, Nov. 30. The junior varsity tips off at 5:30 p.m. followed at 7 p.m by the varsity game.

Tickets are $10.00 and good for the entire day. Parking is $5.00.
