Girls to decide who makes it to the CHSL championship

Over the next two nights, the girls will determine who makes it to the CHSL basketball championship Saturday.

On Tuesday (Feb. 19), the C-D Division semifinals will be played at Warren Regina. Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes (11-6) will play Wixom St. Catherine (12-5) at 5:30 p.m. The Lakers, who were a perfect 8-0 to win the A-North Division, dimmed the Stars by two points in overtime in their only meeting of the season.

At 7 p.m., Madison Heights Bishop Foley (11-2) and Royal Oak Shrine (12-4) tangle.

Shrine won the A-South Division on an 8-0 record, but have the most at stake.

It won the last two CHSL championships and will be seeking a three-peat.

On Wednesday (Feb. 20), it’s an all-Central Division line-up for the A-B semi-finalists at Novi Detroit Catholic Central. At 5:30 p.m., Central winner Bloomfield Hills Marian (15-1; 10-0) goes up against last-place Warren Regina (4-11; 0-10). Marian is the defending A-B champ.

At 7 p.m., runner-up Farmington Hills Mercy (13-4; 7-3) tips off against third-place Dearborn Divine Child (8-8; 5-5).

The winners play for all the glory Saturday, Feb. 23 – the C-D game at 1 p.m., the A-B contest at 3 p.m. – at Detroit Mercy Calihan Hall.
