St. Paul Street Evangelization's 'Immersion 2019' to offer hands-on training, ministry experience June 6-9 in downtown Detroit

DETROIT — For four days next week, those interested in learning how to share Christ with others in the public square, to friends and coworkers, or even to family members can get a crash course through the St. Paul Evangelization Institute.

From June 6-9, the Warren-based apostolate that gave birth to the now-global St. Paul Street Evangelization will offer Immersion 2019, an intensive, hands-on training experience for anyone interested in becoming a better evangelist.

The conference and workshop, which will be held at the Doubletree Hilton Fort Shelby hotel in downtown Detroit, will draw participants from all over the country and will include up to 10 hours of direct, hands-on evangelization experience in downtown Detroit, the institute said in a press release.

Immersion 2019 “is a dynamic and hands-on experience ... designed from the ground up to help train, equip, and mobilize Catholics as disciple-makers who proclaim Jesus Christ in the world,” it said.

The event will include daily Mass, prayer, talks from respected Catholic speakers, breakout sessions, worship experiences and fellowship, but the highlight of the conference will the daily encounters with real people as attendees learn from seasoned evangelists, who will share stories and best practices from their ministries.

“I'm excited to welcome so many from our SPSE community as we gather together for prayer, learning and evangelization,” said Beth Schuele, associate director of evangelization for St. Paul Street Evangelization. “I anticipate many beautiful encounters with the people we will meet on the streets of Detroit. Come Holy Spirit, guide our evangelization.”

Brian Lee, director of teams for St. Paul Street Evangelization, believes the four-day event will provide a complete evangelization experience.

“After many years of training leaders and evangelists in the classroom and online, we are excited to offer yet another evangelization training experience, a four-day immersion where those who attend will enter into a culture of evangelization through prayer, workshops, and street evangelization,” Lee said.

Those interested in registering should visit streetevangelization.com/immersion-2019. The cost is $129 per person, which includes the entire conference, materials, evangelization outings, and breakfast each morning.

St. Paul Street Evangelization  is a grassroots, nonprofit organization, dedicated to responding to the mandate of Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations by taking the Catholic Faith to the streets. Founded in May 2012, St. Paul Street Evangelization provides the tools and resources for Catholics to engage the culture in a simple, non-confrontational method of evangelization, which involves making themselves available to the public to answer questions about the faith and to pray with those who request it.

The apostolate has seen tremendous growth and now has teams throughout the United States and internationally, such as in the Philippines and Australia.
