May They Rest in Peace: Sr. Nora Brady, OP

Sr. Nora Brady, OP, formerly known as Sister Marie Phelim Brady, died on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 93 years of age and in the 70th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation.

Sister was born in County Cavan, Ireland, to Mathias and Annie (Shierdan) Brady. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian, Michigan; received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and earned a Master of Education degree in Administration/Supervision, both from Siena Heights College (University) in Adrian.

Memorial Mass will be on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine’s Chapel.
Sr. Nora Brady, OP

Sister Nora spent 39 years ministering in elementary education in Detroit, Jackson, Pinckney, and Greenville, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; and Carmel, California. This includes nine years as principal and teacher at St. Mary School in Pinckney, Michigan. In Chicago, Sister ministered at St. Denis Parish for 32½ years: 19 years as elementary teacher, and 13½ years in the hospitality ministry. She also served as Prioress of the Dominican Motherhouse Campus for three years. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2015.

Sister was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hugh and four sisters: Anne, Mary, Susan and Brigid. She is survived by a nephew, Mathew Kane of County Caven, Ireland, and her Adrian Dominican Sisters.

Rite of Committal (burial) was held on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. in the Congregation cemetery. The Memorial Mass will be on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catherine’s Chapel. The Ritual of Remembering will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. in the Rose Room of the Dominican Life Center. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, Michigan, 49221.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
