Archdiocese of Detroit clergy appointments: Sept. 21, 2021

Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron announces the following appointments: 

Canon Jean-Baptiste Commins, ICKSP, with the concurrence of his Provincial Superior, Canon Matthew Talarico, ICKSP, appointed Rector of St. Joseph Shrine and Parish, Detroit, effective Oct. 7, 2021. Reverend Canon Commins was previously serving as vice rector of the Shrine of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, Chicago.

Fr. Joseph Grimaldi, with the concurrence of his Bishop, Most Reverend Clarence (Larry) Silva, Diocese of Honolulu, appointed Family-Administrator to the In Solidum team of priests who, with the other priests of the team, will serve the newly formed South Oakland Vicariate Family 3 (Sacred Heart Parish, Auburn Hills; St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Pontiac; St. Hugo of the Hills Parish, Bloomfield Hills; St. Thomas More Parish, Troy), effective Sept. 20, 2021. Fr. Grimaldi will primarily serve at Sacred Heart Parish in Auburn Hills. He was previously enjoying Senior Priest status.

Fr. Jan Michalski, S.Chr., with the concurrence of his Provincial Superior, Very Reverend Jacek Walkiewicz, S.Chr., Society of Christ, appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, Sterling Heights, effective Aug. 14, 2021. Fr. Michalski was previously serving as Parochial Vicar of St. Florian Parish, Hamtramck.

Fr. Jan Michalski, S.Chr., with the concurrence of his Provincial Superior, Fr. Jacek Walkiewicz, S.Chr., Society of Christ, appointed Temporary Administrator of St. Florian Parish, Hamtramck, effective September 8, 2021, in addition to his responsibilities as Pastor of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, Sterling Heights.
