Back when there were only a handful of Catholic churches and parishes in southeast Michigan, St. Joseph Parish stood in the heart of what would become downtown Trenton — known then as "Truago" to the settlers of the Downriver community.

On March 29, nearly two dozen students, led by Fr. Steve Mateja, a priest in solidum at St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish, took turns carrying the cross as the group prayed the rosary and Stations of the Cross as curious onlookers passed by.

Schools from across the Archdiocese of Detroit were invited to attend the morning of prayer, which included breakout sessions in which students strengthened their understanding of the Eucharist, lunch and an opportunity for Eucharistic adoration.
